I read it in both translations; the message brought my focus about maturing love.
I was 30 before I got married and it collapsed because we married on immature attraction we had in the beginning and it didn’t sustain our marriage.
I later learned to mature from focusing only on my needs and it matured into we needs. Love matures; in today’s society I see marriages collapsing because of marrying too young.
Being single and living for God is a special gift from God!
I believe I have found with God and my wife a heightened intimacy that only matures with time spent together.
I like the way the Message translates, Matt 19:11-12
11-12 But Jesus said, “Not everyone is mature enough to live a married life. It requires a certain aptitude and grace. Marriage isn’t for everyone. Some, from birth seemingly, never give marriage a thought. Others never get asked—or accepted. And some decide not to get married for kingdom reasons. BUT IF YOU’RE CAPABLE OF GROWING INTO THE LARGENESS OF MARRIAGE, DO IT.
That is interesting, and it is certainly true that many are not mature enough to live a married life. But it is not really what this text is saying. Jesus is talking about living a single life being a special gift from God. Paul is an example of this. Let the man who feels himself capable of forbearing to marry, and embracing the single life, embrace it; but none can do it but he to whom it is given. Read it again in a real translation, and you’ll see it.
It would appear that from Psalm 2:1-3 that the times we are living in where many government agencies are against all things of God, are nothing new to God.
I have sung Psalm 19 as a chorus for almost fifty years. It was one of the first scripture courses I learned. It’s still so meaningful to me because it is God‘s word in my heart. Just a simple reflection.
i’ve never memorized one song in my whole life, I do scriptures but everyone says if you sing it you can remember it easier. It’s weird if someone starts a song I can sing along without really having memorized the song, like praise and worship.
After the Fall in Genesis 3, God set cherubim to guard the way to the Tree of Life.
In Exodus 35.30, the LORD called Bezalel by name. He is the first one in Scripture of whom it is said “He has filled him with the Spirit of God” In Exodus 36.35 Bezalel wove cherubim into the Veil of the Tabernacle which was the barrier into the Holy of Holies, where the Presence dwelt. The way in was still barred by the cherubim.
When Jesus died, the Veil of the Temple was rent asunder from top to bottom. The way to the Tree of Life which had been barred by the cherubim is now opened for all.
Dear Lord Jesus make this a proclamation for the body today, that we open up our hearts and pour out what we have.
So, Moses sent out orders through the camp: “Men! Women! No more offerings for the building of the Sanctuary!”
The people were ordered to stop bringing offerings! There was plenty of material for all the work to be done. Enough and more than enough! And the people were restrained from bringing, for the material they had was sufficient for all the work to be done—indeed too much.
Joseph entered Potiphar’s household as a slave.
But God entered with him.
Let this be all our testimonies even in adversity-
and whatever we do, the Lord makes it prosper.
Exodus 29.37 “whatever touches the altar shall be holy” Pondering that in the light of Romans 12.1 “present your BODIES a living and holy sacrifice…” When we lay ourselves on the altar, He makes us holy, set apart for Him.
