In Matthew 3, Matthew records Jesus living in Capernaum. Peter and his mother-in-law lived there. Jesus preached, performed healings, and miracles there and in the area. But in chapter 11, He says they didn’t repent. Unbelief even though all of God’s wonders and truth was revealed. I don’t understand why they rejected God Himself.
One thing to understand is that fundamentally people do not reject the Lord for lack of evidence. Consider Psalm 19 and Romans 1. It is for hardness of heart. "And this is the judgment: the light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the light because their works were evil." John 3.19
In my studies this phrase weighed heavily on my heart,
"Indifference toward Christ is the most dangerous spiritual condition"
